Compete

Win at your course. Everyone sees it.

Compete is where Tee18 gets real. You post a match at a course and a time. Anyone on Tee18 can see it and ask to join, so you end up playing people you have never met, not just your buddies. You both check in at the course, play a real round, confirm the score together, and the win goes on that course's board and your city's board for everyone to see.

How it works

From a post to a win on the board.

Every Compete match goes through the same steps. Nothing counts until the last one.

The Host a Match screen: 1v1 or 2v2, the format, the course, the day and time

Post a match, or find one

Tap Host a Match: pick the course, the day and time, stroke play or match play, 1v1 or 2v2. Your post is public. Everyone on Tee18 near that course sees it under Open matches near you and can tap Ask to join. You pick who plays. Or skip hosting and tap Compete Match: it lists the open matches that fit you, near you and at your level, soonest first, and you ask to join one.

A set Compete match: You vs Mei, with Message Mei, the day, the course, Directions and Book tee time

Set the match

Once you both say yes the match is set. You can message each other right from the match to sort out the tee time, and either of you can ask to move it to another day. The other one says yes or no.

Check-in open on the match: I'm here, and Ask to move the time

Check in at the course

Check-in opens an hour before the start. Both of you check in from the course, with your phone's location, then tap Start match. Play with the GPS like any round. Each player keeps their own card.

The final card, 42 to 45, with Grant confirmed and Confirm final result

Confirm it together

When you are done, both of you confirm the final score. Then and only then it counts: a win at that course for the winner, a loss for the other, and the boards update within about ten minutes.

Public on purpose

Your match is a post. Your win is on the board.

This is the part people miss. Compete is not private. A match you host is a post anyone on Tee18 can open, and a result you confirm is on a board anyone can read. That is the point: play people outside your group, and let the course show who is winning there.

Play randoms

Strangers near you see your post and ask to join. You see theirs. The host picks who plays, so you are never stuck with someone you did not pick. Hosts can set a prestige range so the match stays fair.

Or play a friend

Play a friend on the Compete page sends a friend the invite straight. If they accept before anyone else asks, the match is set. A friend can also be your partner in a 2v2.

Course and city boards

Every course has a board ranked by Compete wins there, and every city, county and metro has one too. The #1 at a course shows right on its card on the map. No wins, no rank number. Your wins and losses are on your profile for anyone to see.

Fair play

A result needs both players. Up to two matches against the same person count in a month, so you cannot farm a friend. Somebody who does not show up gets a mark on their profile. Anything odd goes to a person to look at, never an automatic ban.

Compete 1v1

Stroke play, or Singles (Match Play) decided hole by hole. Lowest score, or most holes, takes the win at the course.

Compete 2v2

Two teams of two, scored as Best ball or both totals added. Each player keeps their own card. Both winners get a win, both losers a loss.

Prestige

Ten levels from Driving Range to Major, worked out from your own scores over your last ten rounds. Official prestige comes from Compete and tournament rounds, unofficial from your casual ones. You never see a rating number. Just the level, and how to reach the next one.

Tournaments

Host one for your crew, your club or the whole city: stroke play or a bracket. Entry is always free. Nothing is won but the title and the rounds count toward your prestige.

Head to head

Your record against each person you have played, on the match and on their profile.

What stays private

Your score and the result are public once confirmed. Your shots, your putts and where you were on the course are not, unless you share the round yourself.

Post a match.
See who shows up.

Compete needs an account with a confirmed email, and you have to be 13 or older. That is it. No fees, ever.
